Nisa offers £50k to support ‘winter warmer’ charities

Fifty charities will receive £1,000 from Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity as part the Heart of the Community Awards

Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity will give £1,000 to 50 community causes as part of the launch of the sixth round of the Heart of the Community Awards.

The £50,000 donation fund will contribute towards supporting ‘winter warmers’ such as homeless shelters and warm hubs.

“We are delighted to launch the 6th round of Heart of the Community,” said Kate Carroll, head of Charity at Nisa. “This initiative is a great way for Nisa retailers to give back to their local communities and help those in need during the winter months.”

The Heart of the Community Awards is a scheme which sees Nisa retailers nominate local causes for a donation each year.

The 50 winning causes are then selected by a panel of judges. To date more than £600,000 has been donated through the initiative.

“We know that winter can be a difficult time for many people especially during the current cost of living crisis,” said Helen Walker, charity marketing manager for MADL. “That’s why we’re committed to supporting those in need through the Heart of the Community Awards.”

The 50 winning causes will be unveiled in November 2023. The selected causes will also receive a ticket to Fundraising on the Margins, an afternoon session where hundreds of fundraisers from across the UK will come together to share experiences and achieve more for their causes.
