EXCLUSIVE: Abra Wholesale files intention to appoint administrators

Profit before tax in the firm's latest trading period fell annually from £417,573 to £171,230

Abra Wholesale has filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator, after trying to find buyers to take over its depot in north London.

The notice was posted in April, with solicitor Irwin Mitchell appointed as representative. In March, Better Retailing revealed the Abra was seeking buyers, as director Dee Thaya confirmed he was looking to sell the business due to personal circumstances.

The firm served independent retailers, caterers and foodservice companies within the North London area. Several customers and senior industry sources claimed the majority of shelves at the depot had been empty for months.
