National World newspapers using ‘outdated’ content during NUJ strike over below-inflation pay rises

NUJ claimed the strikes led to eight-page tributes to Queen Elizabeth II and old road safety campaigns being published as news

Newspaper printing press generic

National World’s papers are using “generic”, “outdated” and “replicated” content during a strike, the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) has claimed.

More than 330 journalists walked out for three days in September over below-inflation pay rises.

NUJ claimed the strikes led to eight-page tributes to Queen Elizabeth II and old road safety campaigns being published as news.

NUJ national organiser Laura Davidson told Better Retailing online hits fell by 49% at some titles, and urged bosses to improve pay to prevent further action.
