Warmer weather doesn’t weaken summer tea sales, warns Twinings

Retailers are being urged to keep a well-stocked tea range in store this summer, as warmer weather does little to impact sales.

Retailers are being urged to keep a well-stocked tea range in store this summer, as warmer weather does little to impact sales.

That was the reminder from David Rich, Twinings channel business manager, who said: “165 million cups of tea are drink every day and that doesn’t really change, even when the temperatures start to increase over summer.”

“Consumers might choose a green tea or a fruit infusion though.”

Standard tea makes up 88% of the £33m tea category within convenience, but trends towards healthier lifestyles has driven the green tea sector by 2% over the past year.

Twinings has recently launched a Fruit Infusions range, which includes Lemon & Ginger, Strawberry & Raspberry and Blackcurrant & Blueberry.
