Wall’s Pastry is launching a new Wall’s Chicken Scotch Egg, which will be arriving in convenience stores later this month.

The Chicken Scotch Egg is the third product to be launched as part of Wall’s Pastry’s healthier chicken range, which launched in convenience stores earlier this year.

Wall’s Lean & Mean Chicken Jumbo Roll available in April

The snack weighs in at 113g and contains 197 calories, 2.1g of saturated fat, 9g of fat and 12.3g protein. The company claims the chicken scotch egg has been developed as a healthier alternative to the traditional pork-based snack.

How can convenience retailers meet the growing demand for healthy snacks?

Mike Holton, brand manager at Wall’s Pastry, said about the product: “With flexitarianism continuing to rise, it’s clear that there is still a growing trend towards alternative protein products. The younger generation are conscious, now more than ever, of the health and environmental impact of their food.

“The Chicken Scotch Egg recipe, as well as our other chicken-based products, were developed with health-conscious consumers in mind. We wanted to create an additional product that delivers first on flavour, but also contains significantly less fat, whilst offering an alternative to the red meat, pork-based product.”
