Discover four ways to boost spring sales

Over the next 14 weeks there are massive opportunities to drive spring sales. BetterRetailing looks at what you need to do to succeed.

Over the next 14 weeks there are three massive opportunities for you to drive spring sales. BetterRetailing looks at what you need to do to succeed this season, boosting those Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day sales.

1. Invest in ribbons, bows and paper and introduce a gift wrapping service

Nisa retailer Kully Sandhu runs this service in her Nottingham store ahead of seasonal events. “It doesn’t take me long to do and it’s a great way to stand out from the multiples,” she says.

2. Stock wine next to chocolate

Stocking products next to each other can encourage your shoppers to pick up extra items for a loved one.

3. Use PoS to promote premium chocolates with flowers

Last year, Magnificent 7 retailer Harj Dhasee worked with Ferrero to offer his shoppers gift packages ahead of Valentine’s Day. “Instead of just selling different gifts, we had prosecco, flowers and chocolates for £20. We added 16% to our Valentine’s Day like-for-like sales,” he says.

4. Merchandise boxed chocolate next to cards

Levi Boorer says: “Valentine’s Day is becoming a more credible opportunity for smaller stores. Both buyers and recipients feel better nowadays about buying gifts in a convenience store.”
