Nutrition & Hydration Week partners with Pladis to create virtual tea party

The challenge is part of a wider McVitie's Tasties Biggest Afternoon Tea Challenge activities kit, a free resource designed to make care homes and hospitals even happier

Pladis has teamed up with Nutrition & Hydration Week on June 14-20. With the help of care operators in the UK, they hope to break the organisation’s record for the UK’s biggest virtual afternoon tea party.

On June 16, in combination with the Global Tea Party by Nutrition & Hydration Week, there will be over 200 afternoon tea parties running all day. Participants will also be entered into a free prize draw for the chance to win one of ten hampers loaded with biscuit goodies.

Scott Snell, vice president of sales, pladis, said “The idea behind the collaboration is to raise awareness of the importance of good nutrition and hydration in care homes and hospitals.

“At the same time, we want to help residents and patients feel happy and connected, and we can’t wait to see a record number of people enjoying a virtual afternoon tea on 16 June.”

“We were thrilled with the level of engagement in our McVitie’s Tasties biscuit decorating competition last year and we want to continue to support care homes and healthcare professionals.”

The challenge is part of a wider McVitie’s Tasties Biggest Afternoon Tea Challenge activities kit, a free resource designed to make care homes and hospitals even happier. The packs can be downloaded here and include puzzles, games, nutrition and hydration information, as well as the complete afternoon tea challenge details.

Andy Jones from Nutrition & Hydration Week added “We are excited to be working together with pladis to create the UK’s biggest virtual afternoon tea party. Nutrition & Hydration Week aims to create energy, focus and fun to highlight and educate people on the value of food and drink in maintaining health and wellbeing in health and social care. The afternoon tea challenge is a great way to engage residents and patients – and to have a bit of fun.

“We’d love it if care givers could share photos of their tea parties on social media using the hashtag #NHW2021 and tweeting them to us @NHWeek.”

Care home and health care operators who would like to join should email mcvities@williammurray.co.uk with photos of their afternoon tea. This will automatically enter your care home into the prize draw.

The McVitie’s Tasties Biscuits Range “Tasty Biscuits at a tastie price” are available from stockists including Brakes, Bidfood, Compass, Sodexo, Creed Foodservice, Trevors, Foodservice, Blakemore, thomas Ridley (selected lines only) and WHSmith Travel.
