Ready meals boost for Best-one own label
Best-one retailers have seen own-label sales increase following the addition of ready-meal products in May.
Shabaz Ali, who runs a Best-one in Falkirk, told betterRetailing: “The products have been selling really well because there’s a lot more in the range now.
“I’ve got one customer who keeps repeatedly buying the products, so they are driving repeat sales to my store. They’ve said the products are good quality.”
Kay Patel, of Best-one Global Food & Wine in Stratford, east London, added: “The range is definitely selling better than before because of the changes. The packaging is more noticeable when displayed in the chiller.
“We’re buying in more units of the products to keep up with demand. We’re buying enough to fill an entire shelf.”
betterRetailing was the first to reveal Bestway’s plans about the range, which includes Beef Lasagne, Chicken Tikka Masala, Cottage Pie and Spaghetti Bolognese. They are priced at £2.99 for one 450g meal, or on a two-for-£5 promotion. Chilled juices were also added as part of the range.
