Making sure your store can be found online is becoming increasingly important as new technology will drive more people to their local stores via online resources.

Car manufacturer Ford has become the first car company to embed Amazon’s voice-activated digital assistant in its vehicles. The technology means drivers will be able to ask Alexa, the voice-activated assistant, to play music, read weather forecasts and direct them to their nearest convenience store.

Retailers wanting to take advantage of more passing trade will need to make sure their shop details, including opening hours, are listed online.

Ford is the latest company to announce its use of a virtual assistant. LG Electronics is using Alexa in one of its refrigerators, and Whirlpool will integrate voice-activated technology into 20 ovens and washing machines.
