Juul2 wins Product of the Year and launches Blackcurrant Tobacco pods

Juul Labs’ new Juul2 system has been awarded Product of the Year 2023 in the vaping and heated tobacco products category.

The annual Product of the Year Award is the largest study of product innovation in the UK, shortlisted by a panel of experts and awarded by the public.

Efe Abebe-Heywood, senior director of communications and brand at Juul Labs UK, said: “Our new Juul2 system has marked a step change in vapour technology, providing adult smokers with a product that more closely resembles the consistency and experience of combustible cigarettes to support them on their switching journey.

“Smoking remains the leading cause of preventable death and disease in the UK, and we remain committed to our mission at Juul Labs to transition even more adult smokers from cigarettes, while combating underage use.”

Juul2 was launched in April 2022 following a pilot launch on its website. The rechargeable closed-pod system was updated from previous versions with new technologies and features.

All UK retailers stocking Juul products are expected to uphold the company’s Challenge 25 age verification policy and are subject to continued mystery shopping audits. The company is also trialling a take-back and recycling programme for used pods and devices, which it hopes to roll out later this year.

The 2023 award coincides with the launch of a Blackcurrant Tobacco variety, which the brand describes as a classic tobacco option with blackcurrant flavours. The Blackcurrant Tobacco JuulPods launched on the Juul website in January and will be available to retailers to stock in February.
