The technology will allow retailers to present promotions of HFSS products while still complying with new consumer health legislation

Retail technology company Jisp has teamed up with Nisa to launch Scan & Save, the industry’s first ever augmented reality (AR) vouchering system.

Initially to be rolled out to 12 Nisa stores across the UK, Scan & Save allows customers to save money on purchases from participating brands.

The system reads product barcodes and displays promotions, which customers can then redeem with their mobile phones.

The technology allows retailers to personalise their offers by fascia, location and customer, as well as promote HFSS products while still complying with new consumer health legislation, as promotions can be shown only to customers already searching within particular categories.

CEO of Jisp, Julian Fisher, said: “With a crowd of marketing and promotional materials taking up space, messaging can be diluted or, at worse, confuse customers. With Scan & Save by Jisp, chosen promotions are delivered directly to consumers’ mobile phones.

Head of central operations at Nisa, James Taylor, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Jisp to trial this innovative solution through Nisa partners and look forward to seeing how Scan & Save performs and importantly, the response it gets from independent retailers and their customers.”
