Imperial Tobacco has urged retailers to be vigilant following reports of someone impersonating its reps and asking to go behind counters.
Advising retailers on what to do, Imperial said: “We’re aware of reports of someone impersonating a representative of Imperial and asking to go behind the counter.

“As the impersonator was unable to produce ID, they were turned away, thanks to the caution of our customers. We’ve advised retailers to be especially vigilant at this time and advise retailers to ask for ID if approached by an Imperial representative they don’t recognise.”
