Heineken appeals to late-night cider drinkers

Retailers can make their cider sales go the whole hog this month as Heineken brings Blind Pig to the off-trade to target late night drinkers.

Blind Pig is available in three flavours, Bourbon & Blueberry, Whiskey, Honey & Apple and Rum & Poached Pear. It comes in 355ml bottles, RRP £2, and has an ABV of 5.5%.

The brand was launched in the on-trade by Heineken in May 2015. Since its launch the brand has taken on customer feedback to reduce its bottle size and change its recipe.

Heineken is urging retailers to stock the three Blind Pig flavours next to flavoured cider, such as Bulmers and niche cider, such as Chaplin & Cork’s.

Craig Clarkson, off-trade marketing & category director at Heineken, said Blind Pig is a premium brand that will encourage shoppers to drink cider later in the night, when cider isn’t usually consumed. 

“We’re committed to helping our customers drive growth into the cider category by offering new products that challenge the traditional cider rules,” he added.
