Country Choice launches three new speciality breads

Sales of bread and baked goods increased by 18% in March when coronavirus restrictions were introduced

Country Choice has unveiled three new speciality bread products to help retailers make the most of the growing bakery and baked goods category.

The Sourdough Bloomer is 315g and available in a case of 12 and is made from a mother dough starter which produces a delicate sour flavour and soft crumb texture.

According to the supplier, The West Country Farmhouse Cheddar Cheese Bloomer is also available in a case of 12 and has a soft, aerated, crumb with a natural burst in its crust which makes each loaf unique.

Londis Peverills is a small store making a big impact

Ciabatta Loaf comes in a case of 13 and is made using Italian extra virgin olive oil, with the loaf hand stretched, turned and shaped to create a waxy crumb and crisp cut.

The news follows Kantar research that claimed sales of bread and baked goods increased by 18% in value during March when coronavirus lockdown restrictions were introduced. The majority of the sales growth has come from plant bread, according to owner Country Choice, but “sales of in-store bakery loaves were up by 7.5%.”

The three launches have a shelf life of one day once baked and retailers can find out more by visiting www.countrychoice.co.uk.
