Riesen chocolate to launch limited-edition Espresso variety

The supplier aims to capitalise on coffee's growing popularity with the new flavour

Storck is extending its dark chocolate toffee brand Riesen for the first time with the launch of a limited-edition Espresso variety.

The new flavour will be available from 1 January 2024 in 135g sharing bags with a £1.25 RRP.

Its launch comes as Riesen is now worth £4.9m in retail sales value and is the sixth-fastest growing brand in sugar confectionery, according to IRI figures.

Andy Mutton, managing director at Storck UK, said: “The UK is a nation of coffee lovers, with the coffee shop market growing by 7.3% and 61% of consumers now preferring it to tea. Our new product caters to this growing demand and offers consumers that classic combination of chocolate and coffee in the form of an indulgent treat.

“We believe the new flavour will be popular amongst the brand’s current loyal following as well as bringing in new shoppers by driving excitement in the category.”

The supplier will support the new variety with in-store and online promotions to help drive awareness and trial.
