Bestway had improved availability for retailers following a “reorganisation” from a national distribution to a network of regional hubs, according to the wholesaler’s latest annual results.

In the trading report for the year ending 30 June 2023, the firm said: “During the year the board approved a reorganisation of the supply chain to move activity from its existing national distribution centre to a network of regional distribution centres.

“This structure was shown to reduce total transport milage, product handling costs and to improve depot availability.”

Bestway added it had also moved the supply chain operations for Bargain Booze franchisees from Crewe to Stoke in the year. It said: “During the year the landlord of our Crewe warehouse served us a section 26 Notice, subsequent to which, the board approved a new business plan to consolidate the supply chain operations of Bestway Retail into the operations of Bestway Wholesale and Bestway Northern.

“This resulted in Bestway Retail’s franchisee supply chain operations being transferred to a new warehouse in Stoke, and partly into other existing network locations.”
