Valentine’s Day sales trends from 27,500 convenience stores across the UK have been revealed by PayPoint.

Chocolates and bubbly are the clear front-runners, with biriyani and Babycham placed further down the list.

  • Nestle After 8 Mints +127%

Sale volumes for sparking wine on Valentine’s Day was up 54%, with wine categories across the board up by 16%.

Ben Ford, retail services director at PayPoint, said: “Despite the UK’s first lockdown Valentine’s Day, it’s heart-warming to see that people all over the country still chose to make those special purchases to celebrate with their significant others whilst supporting their local store.
