Spar UK managing director Debbie Robinson to join Central England Co-op as CEO

Debbie Robinson is to leave her role as Spar UK managing director next year to become Central England Co-operative’s new chief executive.

Debbie Robinson is to leave her role as Spar UK managing director next year to become Central England Co-operative’s new chief executive.

Robinson, who has been at Spar since 2011, will replace Martyn Cheatle when he retires in May next year. Prior to joining Spar, she had previously held roles at Co-op Group, Marks & Spencer and WHSmith. A replacement for Robinson has not been announced. 

Commenting on Robinson’s departure, Spar UK chairman Martin Agnew said: “The Spar board has reluctantly agreed to accept the resignation of Debbie Robinson.

“Debbie will leave with the best wishes of the board for the next stage in her career and with much appreciation for the success and achievement that Spar UK has enjoyed under her leadership.”

Robinson added: “I am delighted to be joining a progressive and truly co-operative society. I look forward to building on the fantastic work Martyn has done and working with the team to ensure Central England Co-operative fulfils its ambitions and potential, making a real difference for our members and the communities we serve.”
