Rollover hot dogs has blamed the national driver shortage for a recent wave of price increases.

In communications sent to retailers and seen by Better Retailing, the hot-dog-to-go supplier confirmed it would be increasing bread prices by 10%, foil bags by 2p and hot dog trays by 2p from 9 August.

“On packaging, we are seeing significant upward pressure on key raw materials coupled with extreme materials shortages resulting in cost increases in a number of our packaging lines,” it said.

“Significant upward cost pressures, driven by rising fuel prices, labour costs and truck shortages, have affected our frozen distribution and bread range.”

Sunder Sandher, of One Stop in Leamington Spa, said he has raised his prices in store from £2.25 to £2.49 to mitigate the effect in his store.
