Nestlé Confectionery launches on-pack ‘Sunshine Break’ promotion

Promo runs across sharing formats, which appeared in an additional 30 million baskets in 2020

Nestle win a sunshine break

Nestlé Confectionery has announced a new ‘Win a Sunshine Break’ on-pack promotion across its confectionery and chilled desserts brands.

The promotion has five prizes of a holiday worth £10,000, as well as a further prize of £1,000 to be won every day during the promotional period.

Nestlé is hoping the promotion appeals to shoppers who have largely been unable to go on holidays during the last 18 months. The ‘win now, book later’ prizes also ensure winners can book their holidays while following government guidelines for travel.

The promotion features across the sharing formats of Nestlé’s Milkybar, Aero, Munchies, Smarties, Rolo and Rowntress’ brands. Stock of promotional packs are now available to retailers, with the promotion running from 13 September to 7 November.

Nesté will support the promotion with a campaign featuring out-of-home and social media advertising, which it says is expected to be seen by more than 20 million adults.

According to the supplier, sharing bags appeared in an additional 30 million baskets in 2020 compared to 2019, while chocolate blocks appeared in an additional 81 million baskets, attracting 1.5 million new shoppers.

“We expect ‘Big Night In’ occasions to continue be popular as people make up for lost time getting together with family and friends and sharing confectionery such as bags and blocks plays a key role in these occasions,” said Helen Bailor, Shopper Marketing Manager, Nestlé Confectionery.

“Add this together with the chance to win a long-awaited holiday, and we believe our ‘Win a Sunshine Break’ promotion is certain to capture shopper’s attention and drive increased sales of these popular formats in store.”
