Post Office Horizon inquiry demands changes in the law

The Post Office (PO) Horizon scandal inquiry has demanded legislative changes to ensure victims receive “full and fair compensation”. 

Last week, the inquiry’s chair, Wyn Williams, released the interim report into the scandal, calling for a “strengthening of the Horizon Compensation Advisory Board and more clarity around the tax treatment of compensation”. 

After hearing testimonies from former subpostmasters affected by the miscarriage of justice, Williams decided to bring forward his investigation of compensation issues. 

He added: “There was a compelling need to provide compensation to all those who had suffered loss and damage that properly reflected their losses.”
