News UK has announced The Sun’s cover price will rise by 10p to 50p from Monday 14 March for its weekday editions.
Retailers will earn 1.87p extra per copy from a new 22.3% margin, down from 23.2%.
News UK said the move will “deliver an estimated additional £36.3m of annualised sales benefit to the market”.
In a letter to retailers seen by Retail Newsagent, Chris Duncan, chief customer officer, said: “News UK’s investment in the independent retail universe remains unrivalled in the industry. Executed through our local sales teams, we have been focused on how we grow sales through activity such as our store refit programme, Perfect Shop and HND support.”
