Magazine opportunity: Choose the right Taylor Swift magazine for your stands

With Taylor Swift now officially a billionaire, publishers are scrambling to make the most of“Swiftonomics”—the financial boom which follows every concert in the star’s tour. But which title is the best for your store?

With the Eras tour boosting interest in Taylor Swift, magazines featuring the star have been booming. The singer has a huge range of generational appeal, with titles racking up sales in primary girls, teen, and adult magazines alike.

Key Publishing’s head of sales and marketing, Suzanne Taylor, explained: “Taylor Swift has over 280 million followers on Instagram, more than 93 million on X and 80 million on Facebook. In the UK, Taylor Swift was the most streamed music artist of 2023 and 2.9 million fans applied for 750,000 seats on the UK leg of her Eras concert tour.”

Key Publishing’s Why we Love…. Taylor Swift ‘The Hottest Artist on the Planet’ bookazine is currently on sale for £9.99, distributed by Seymour.

“If interest in Taylor Swift were not high enough already, 2024 looks set to boost her popularity even higher,” Taylor added. “This publication reminds every ‘Swiftie’ of all the great things they admire about ‘Tay Tay’.”

The 116-page bookazine features “stunning images” of the star, including some from 2024, “for fans to pin to bedroom walls” as well as Taylor Swift articles, quotes and facts. It also offers a competition in which one reader can win 250 on Taylor Swift merch on Amazon.

Other options

Key is not the only publisher bringing out a new Taylor Swift title to capitalise on the growing demand.

Last year saw the release of an ‘Everything You Need to Know About Taylor Swift’ bookazine make enough of a splash that a second issue is now being released. It will be on sale from 6/06 at £8.99, distributed by Marketforce.

Future’s Mad About Taylor oneshot was also successful as soon as it launched at the end of March, and will be soon be joined by an I Love Taylor issue of regular frequency title Mega Pack when it goes on sale on 10/05. Mega Pack is distributed by Marketforce, and costs £11.99.

A spokesperson for Future told Better Retailing: “Taylor Swift products are in high demand and the trend is only set to grow with the latest news of a new album launch, and a UK sold out tour in June and August 2024. Taylor has broad appeal from young children through to adults. Taylor products are driving a large amount of additional revenue for all retailers and it’s a great opportunity to capitalise on this trend whilst sales are flying!”
