Merchandising snacks on the go

As RN’s ‘snacks on the go’ feature arrives with readers across the UK this week, we spoke to three suppliers and asked them for their top tips on how to merchandise their snacks products.

Kerry Foods:

  • Effort: Make merchandising a priority as 77% of consumers find it useful to have commonly purchased products together.
  • Purpose: Organise your chiller in sections such as ‘lunchtime’ and ‘meal for tonight’ to prompt customers to make impulse purchases.
  • Extra: Offer products that will boost incremental sales and boosting basket spend.

KP Snacks:

  • Cross-promotions: Meal deals will boost snack sales and increase shopper spend in-store.
  • Interruption: Window posters and shelf barkers are great ways to catch customers’ eyes and encourage impulse sales.
  • Secondary displays: 60% of purchases are made in less than 30 seconds. Shoppers are not willing to spend a lot of time searching for products, so use POS such as display units or dumpbins to highlight products and create standout.

Yazoo:

  • Double up: Dual-site your flavoured milks to your front of store chiller.
  • Discount: Use promotions or pricemarked packs as tools to drive sales.
  • Branded: Supplier-produced PoS is a great way to create visual appeal in your fixture.
