ACS praised modern forecourts as 'innovative, community-focused retailers in their own right'

Forecourts invest in convenience stores

Independent forecourt retailers have invested more than double in the convenience sector on average compared with independent retailers over the past year.

According to the ACS’ 2019 Forecourt Report, forecourt retailers invested £14,463 per store, compared with £7,181 per store by independents.

In addition, more than three quarters of independent forecourts engaged in some form of community activity over the past year, not just through raising money for charity, but by sponsoring local teams, being part of litter picks and donating to food banks or other food charities.

ACS chief executive James Lowman said: “It’s clear modern forecourts are innovative, community-focused retailers in their own right.”
