Disposable vape-ban-ready products to hit market

With the disposable vape band set to become law, an industry source reveals suppliers will release compliant versions of top sellers in the category

Many major disposable vape brands are soon to release disposable-ban-compliant variants of their larger-capacity devices, according to a source working in the industry.

The expert claimed to Better Retailing lines such as Elfbar AF5000, IVG 2,400 and Instafill 4,500 are classed as disposables and will therefore be banned after 1 April 2025. However, all three suppliers are working on near-identical devices that can be recharged, with replaceable coils and tanks or pods.

The industry source said: “It will be easier for shops, because customers will be able to find a product with the same look, feel, brand and price after the change.”

Closing loopholes

Earlier this week, MPs voted in favour of a ban on single-use disposable vapes, alongside the generational smoking ban, as part of The Tobacco & Vapes Bill. There are also measures affecting the display, packaging and flavours of vapes. The new legislation originates in a public consultation on smoking and vaping.

The government had warned it would amend legislation to close any loopholes if vape companies attempted to circumvent the ban. Health secretary Victoria Atkins said: “It shows the battle the government is prepared to take on.”
