Bestway is considering legal action against customers re-selling its own-label on Amazon, after some were found listing Best-one products at nearly four times the price-mark (PMP).

BetterRetailing found more than 50 examples of Best-one PMP products being resold through the online retailer. All the products, which were sold in cases, were priced higher than the PMP on single-unit costs, with the difference ranging from 4% to a 364% markup. Lines listed included 52p mushy peas (£1.53 single unit pricing), £1.99 hot chocolate (£3.50) 80p sea salt (£1.94) and 59p cut green beans (£2.74).

There were other products which had the PMP erased from the associated image.

A Bestway Wholesale spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Bestway is not selling Best-one own label products on Amazon directly. However, if trade customers purchase goods from us, they are able to sell them at whatever price they choose and via whichever distribution channel they choose.

“Unfortunately, we are unable to stop re-sellers buying the listed products. It’s a growing area of concern, and we are currently discussing how we can manage this situation with our legal team”.
