Bestway closes two Central Convenience shops after network review

Two Central Convenience stores have closed following a “nationwide network” review by Bestway.

The wholesaler acquired 127 Central Convenience stores as part of its £7m purchase of Bargain Booze owners Conviviality Retail back in April. Conviviality had previously bought the Central Convenience chain from P&H for £25m following its collapse last year. 

A store on Kelston Road, Worle and one other closed down on 12 July, with staff at the locations made redundant. Bestway told the Weston Mercury: “We have to ensure we have the right offer in the right locations and having reviewed our nationwide network we are proposing to close two Central Convenience stores.”

While most of Central Convenience sites are centrally owned, several are operated by independent retailers as franchises.
