Retailer caught selling illicit tobacco on own CCTV

Illicit tobacco

A Gloucester retailer has been ordered to pay almost £1,200 after evidence from her own shop’s CCTV proved she was selling illegal tobacco.

Tanya Abdulrahan Fakieh, owner of Chisholm stores in Gloucester, pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of illegal cigarettes at Cheltenham Magistrate’s Court.

The shopkeeper was caught after intelligence led Gloucester trading standards to seize 37 packs of illegal cigarettes. Evidence from the shop’s own CCTV system showed the illegal sales taking place.

Fakieh was fined £600 and ordered to pay £569.63 in costs and a £60 victim surcharge. The illicit stock was also destroyed.
