Second store opens for award-winning Londis retailer

Father and son team Ramesh and Amish Shingadia have opened their second Londis store – and marked the event with a visit from a Government minister.

The new Londis store in Caterways, Horsham, has benefited from a complete refurbishment following its acquisition earlier this year and is the second store for the Shingadia family, who scooped an Independent Achievers Academy award on Monday.

“We’re confident out customers will like our new store,” said Amish Shingadia. “We’ve got a great range, lots of new products and Costa coffee to go. We’ve already had some fantastic feedback with lots of people saying they are delighted with the transformation.”

The new-look store also represents the 5,000th modernised Post Office opening, which saw Postal Affairs Minister Baroness Neville-Rolfe visiting the store to cut the ribbon to officially open its doors.

The minister said: “The Government has invested nearly £2bn to sustain and transform the network and I am pleased to open this branch, particularly to celebrate reaching the 5,000 modernised post offices milestone.”

Londis brand director John Pattison added: “It’s great to see the Shingadias opening a second store, Ramesh and Amish are great retailers with extensive experience in serving their local communities.”

As well as the official ribbon-cutting, a opening party will take place tomorrow to coincide with Small Business Saturday, with a free goody bag being given away to the first 50 customers, and family activities, food tastings and face painting on offer.
