Nisa offers retailers the inside scoop on all things ice cream

95% of all ice cream sales are bought on impulse, with basket spend increasing by 29% when ice cream is included

As the Bank Holiday weekend approaches, Nisa has shared ice cream category trends, new-to-market products and sales data with partnered retailers.

Sorren Ashmore, wholesale category controller at Nisa, said: “Ice cream really is one of the biggest growth drivers with the average basket spend increased from £7.63 to £9.86 when an ice cream product is included.

“With ice cream being a destination category for stores, we want to provide as much help and support for partners as we can so they can exploit these sales opportunities.”

Alongside a selection of branded new products, Co-op own label has also launched new a new vegan brand of Gro ice cream lines comprising individual ice cream treats as well as share tubs.

“Spring is well and truly upon us and everyone is hoping the warm weather will hit us soon, so we’ve been preparing our retailers for this and provided them with an excellent range of all the latest ice creams.

“A massive 95% of all ice cream sales are bought on impulse and with basket spend increasing by 29% when ice cream is included, it’s certainly worth stocking this year’s must try new lines,” said Sorren.
