NewstrAid in walking challenge to raise funds for those in need

The charity's staff are joining industry supporters to take on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for newsagents and newstrade workers struggling with the cost of living.

Neil Jagger, NewstrAid chief executive, will join the charity’s finance director Laura Grice, welfare manager Katie Babooram and 17 other walkers this month to take on the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge.

The Big Walk, which will take place on 16 and 17 September, involves a 24-mile round trip, including tackling the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in less than 12 hours.

Jagger said: “We have been training hard over the past few weeks and are praying that the weather stays fine for the weekend. Our final hurdle is to reach our fundraising target of £1,500, so we are asking anyone from the industry who can spare a few pounds to pledge their support and visit our fundraising page to donate to the cause.”

This event is being organised by NewstrAid’s East Midlands Area Committee, supported by independent magazine supplier, Retail Sparks Connect. All the money raised as a result of the challenge will help people from the newspaper and magazine industry who are struggling to make ends meet during the cost-of-living crisis.

The NewstrAid team can be sponsored here. Full details about the financial support available through NewstrAid’s Cost of Living Crisis fund can be found on NewstrAid’s website.
