McColl’s adopts new staff training programme

McColl’s is to use a digital staff training service to boost compliance in key areas such as underage sales, customer service and safety.

By partnering with Bolt Learning, McColl’s store staff will have access to a range of online tools designed to promote best practice. The announcement follows a string of similar convenience industry contract wins by Bolt Learning this year.

The company now supplies similar training services to Lifestyle Express, James Retail and MRH stores and forecourts. Bolt also partnered with ACS to provide its members with online training under its Assured Advice Scheme.

Commenting on its contract win, a company spokesperson said: “We’re proud to be chosen as e-Learning partner to McColl’s Retail Group – training 22,000 employees as they put people development at the heart of their business.”

Bolt Learning non-exec director Tom Fender explained the service to Retail Express. He said: “First of all, it’s about providing compliance training in a digital environment, making it easy and enjoyable for staff. Then the service can begin to develop and reinforce best practice in other store areas such as making product recommendations and driving additional sales.”
