Sausage rolls and pasties to City workers’ desks at lunchtime – that’s the aim of a new delivery service being trialled in the heart of London by Greggs.

Initially based in central London to target city workers, the delivery team will bring food to go directly to office staff within a 0.4mile radius. The minimum spend for delivery is £20 and orders have to placed before 5pm for next day delivery between 10am-12pm.

It follows early trials in Newcastle and is expected to be tested in other parts of London and Manchester. The free service is being operated out of two stores.

Greggs' trading was particularly strong over Christmas, with food to go driving sales. The company said popular lines included burritos and its Balance Choice bakes, which contain fewer than 400 calories.
