Budgens store increases shoppers spend using Ubamarket app

A Budgens store in the Cotswolds has increased shoppers’ spend by 21% through working with the Ubamarket app.

A Budgens store in the Cotswolds has increased shoppers’ spend by 21% through working with the Ubamarket app.

The app enables customers to create shopping lists, find products in store, checkout faster and receive promotions that are tailored by the retailer. Budgens retailer Guy Warner has been trialling the app in his Moreton-in-Marsh store since 2016.

Will Broome, Ubamarket chief executive officer, said the services on the app have been used by all ages, with older shoppers spending more time on it than younger ones.

“The initial aspiration is to get 10% of your shoppers on the app when you first introduce it. Ninety-two per cent of people that use the app will use it again,” he added.

The app has also recently launched a new feature called Allergy Alert, which tells users what allergens products contain when scanned, allowing shoppers to set their own dietary requirements.

“We’re capturing the ingredient data so that we can eventually start promoting recipes. If a shopper doesn’t like the alerts, they can easily switch them off,” Broome said.
