  1. Freeze up: Chilled and fresh produce is becoming more popular, but don’t forget to stock frozen ready meals for older customers. “Elderly shoppers still have their frozen meal habits,” says Sunjit.
  2. Be disruptive: Throughout the store is imaginative and branded signage including Sunjit’s Signature Wines and special Smirnoff fridges. It engages customers and draws them to displays.
  3. A proper pint: The couple’s ale sales increased by 150% since re-merchandising the sector and introducing a three-for-£5 deal. “It is a genuinely good deal for a quality product,” Sunjit says.
