Both wholesalers included posters advertising vacancies in magazine tote boxes on 14 October to tackle driver shortages affecting deliveries to shops.

Lack of tanker drivers applying for temporary UK visas fuels availability issues

A Smiths News poster seen by betterRetailing promises a ‘£1,000 start-up bonus’ for drivers with their own van.

NFRN head of news Brian Murphy said: “Placing the posters in store or in local communities will raise awareness of the urgent need for more delivery drivers.

“I hope members are able to support this recruitment campaign.”
