“We only became a Best-one in September last year, but we had been using Bestway for years
as our main wholesaler. I find that, as a symbol group, they are quick to respond to our queries and are always there to lend a helping hand. Every four-to-six weeks, someone will come over and check in on us to make sure everything is in order, and that our planograms are up to date to match the latest trends.
“At the moment, we have a range of protein bars and milk alternatives on promotion. Whenever there is a one-day promotion in depot, we always receive a call from the wholesaler, which is helpful.
“Best-one are particularly good at advising us when best to buy products. For example, last week I rang them up regarding tobacco, and I was told that if I waited one day, I could benefit from a promotion that they planned to offer.”
How we helped
“Best-one now has 2,100 stores nationwide, positioning us as the fastest-growing symbol group. We are doubling our number of business development managers to focus on the development of Best-one stores to help them compete locally by providing the right offer for local consumers.
“To support this, we will also improve our chilled delivery capabilities and increase our range of chilled and fresh, we’re introducing a new food-to-go proposition and we are using category knowledge from our acquisition of Bargain Booze to support retailers tap into vaping and to enhance their licensed offer.”
