Unitas ‘Brand Box’ sample scheme pushed back

The new scheme will enable retailers to sample upcoming and newly released products

A scheme enabling retailers to test demand for new products in their stores has been delayed.

Wholesale group Unitas had planned to launch Brand Box, a scheme giving free trial stock to stores, in early 2020.

Challenged on delays to the scheme, a source at the group reassured retailers. They told Better Retailing: “The initial boxes haven’t gone live yet as they are scheduled from late October.

“There are some interesting new and existing products planned, such as Pot Noodles Lost the Pot and Red Bull Zero.”

When the scheme was announced, Unitas said it had been designed to take the risk away from new products.
