Coronavirus: traffic light system installed at Spar Hillingdon
The coloured light system cost £300 and has freed up a staff member to perform other tasks
Sophie Towers, owner of Hillingdon Spar Convenience Store in Burnley, Lancashire, told betterRetailing: “Customers were taking advantage. Rather than having a member of staff stand at the door, the cashier now just flicks a switch to turn it green when someone leaves.”
Towers purchased disco lights and sourced a company to create the signage. “It only cost us £300. It’s worth it when you weigh up the cost of freeing up a staff member,” she said.
