AF Blakemore will use the Philpotts chain to “enhance its current retail offer” following the purchase of the business from high street restaurant Patisserie Valerie.

All 21 of the café and catering chain’s sites across the UK were bought this month. The agreement was completed alongside a separate transaction where equity firm Causeway Capital purchased 96 Patisserie Valerie branches. Both deals have bought the two chains out of administration.

AF Blakemore chairman Peter Blakemore said: “Bringing Philpotts under AF Blakemore
ownership is aligned with our strategic retail and foodservice plan. Our experience and knowledge of the foodservice and convenience sectors brings significant opportunities to develop the brand.”
