Asda cash and carry

Petrol price competition concerns mean forecourt giant EG Group’s Asda takeover will face an in-depth six-month stage-two Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) investigation.

On 20 April, parties involved were given five working days to resolve CMA findings that 36 areas in the UK could see fuel prices rise as a result of the deal.

They were given five working days to ‘resolve’ the issues – normally through the selling off of sites – but as RN went to press, no resolution had been announced.
