Promote your shop

The My Shop is Your Shop (MSYS) campaign has run since 2004 as a way for major suppliers to support local shopkeepers in promoting sales to local people and now is a good time for you to take part too.

This year the campaign has launched a Facebook page and it wants local shopkeepers and their customers to sign up as fans. In this way you will be able to take part in some of the fantastic events planned to benefit shoppers close to your store and possibly you will be able to promote yourself to new and existing customers.

If you are not sure about social networking and how it can help your business, this could be the opportunity that you have been waiting for. It is easy to sign up to Facebook and millions of people use it to keep in touch. Only this week, it overtook Google in the US as the number one web site with more than 7% of all Internet visits.

One of our Twitter followers, Christine Hope, set up her Facebook group two years ago and has just shy of 100 followers. Think about it this way. Through the internet your business can be in touch with millions of shoppers at next to no cost. Some of those people are likely to be shoppers living or working within 250 metres of your shop. Give it a try.
