The new £10 polymer notes, which launched today, could cause headaches for retailers using self-filling ATMs in and outside their stores, a retailer has warned.
Peter Sykes of Colin Sykes Food Stores in Speke and Woolton said he already has “horrendous” problems putting polymer £5 notes in his ATM.
“It’s a daily battle to get them to stack neatly if they’ve been folded or rolled,” he said. “It’s an absolute nightmare. I’m dreading the £10 notes coming in.”
The Bank of England encouraged Sykes to contact his ATM provider to discuss
the matter.
The new polymer tenner came into circulation today, with the old notes set to be withdrawn in spring 2018.
