Scottish wholesaler United Wholesale has partnered with Uber Eats to help retailers offer home deliveries.

Last month, retailers told Better Retailing the wholesaler had begun taking registrations at its Queenslie depot in Glasgow to enable its stores to become a part of the delivery service.

When contacted by Better Retailing, United Wholesale managing director Asim Sarwar confirmed the partnership, but declined to give further details about the service and whether it was a temporary service in response to the coronavirus crisis.

In a video message sent to Costcutter retailers last month, Costcutter retail director Mike Hollis said the symbol group had nearly 100 retailers signed up to Uber Eats. “They’ve seen about a 400% increase in sales. One retailer is knocking on the door of £5,000 a week in sales,” he said.
