PayPoint defends price rise

PayPoint has blamed a rise in inflation for its recent service fee increases charged to retailers to use its service.

PayPoint's EPoS and payment services system, PayPoint One, is now live in more than 14,000 stores across the UK.

PayPoint has blamed a rise in inflation for its recent service fee increases charged to retailers to use its service.

One retailer told RN: “PayPoint is increasing their charges in line with 2.5% inflation, so why are we not getting a 2.5% increase in commission?”

A PayPoint spokesperson said: “We have increased our service fees in line with the Retail Price Index (RPI) to be able to continue to deliver on our commitment to improve our products and services.

“We understand price rises are never welcome, but we are committed to continue adding value for our retail partners, as we have done with free ACS membership, PayPoint One apps and improved service levels over the past year.”
