Independent retailers are upgrading and switching payment solutions and providers due to support being withdrawn for older technologies and demand for better analysis.

HTEC told Retail Express that these factors were driving “huge interest” in its new Gempay 3 payment terminal, and its new EPOS solution. HTEC sales director Stephen Noon said: “When parts become scarce or support is withdrawn suddenly like with Oracle, a lot of retailers converted to our system.”

The company’s head of marketing Melanie Osborne added that till technology is being “end of lifed” and that retailers are looking for new, far improved solutions.

“Retailers are crying out for more control over their EPOS solutions. The really switched on retailers want to be able to plan better, monitor sales, monitor margins and see what is working in their store in more detail,” she said.
