Saturday newspapers have experienced their fourth month of consecutive growth, whereas daily titles have seen a circulation increase for the first time in two months, according to figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations.

Saturday titles had a 0.1% increase month on month, with The Times and the Financial Times achieving a 1.2% rise in circulation. The Guardian, Daily Mail and The Sun were close behind, with a respective 0.6%, 0.5% and 0.2% growth.

Managing director of The Times Chris Duncan thanked newsagents for selling the papers: “The figures show a market- leading performance as readers look to us to make sense of an uncertain world,” he said.

Meanwhile, daily titles saw a 0.2% climb, with The Guardian, The Times and The Sun recording positive results. The i also achieved its first weekly increase of the year, growing 0.2%.

A Guardian News & Media spokesperson said the paper’s good performance was due to its resonance with its audience.

“November’s busy news agenda with Brexit saw readers coming to The Guardian for analysis, while Guardian Weekend’s interview with Michelle Obama resulted in good sales,” they said.

Sunday papers recorded a 0.7% drop in general circulation. The Sunday Telegraph was the only publication to see an increase in sold copies, while sales of the Sunday Times stayed flat month on month.

All other titles saw a reduction, with the Daily Star Sunday suffering the most with a 3.1% decline.
