A Leicester shopkeeper is on trial for murder following a shop explosion that claimed five lives.

Aram Kurd, 34, is on trial in Leicester Crown Court on murder, manslaughter and arson charges following the explosion at the Zabka store on Hinckley Road. Arkan Ali, 37, and Hawkar Hassan, 33, are facing the same charges. 

Shop worker Viktorija Ijevleva and four people living in the flat above died in the blast.

Kurd, Ali and Hassan have pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

The case continues.
