Jacob’s and Carr’s Christmas 2020 range announced by Pladis
Jacob's is currently worth £72m, while Carr's is worth £10m
Pladis has announced its 2020 savoury seasonal range under its two main brands, Jacob’s and Carr’s, to help retailers drive seasonal sales and encourage trade up.
Below, we’ve summarised everything you need to know about the 2020 Christmas range.
Jacob’s Christmas Caddies return this year, with the range undergoing a package refresh with a festive theme.
The 2020 line-up includes Mini Cheddars, Twiglets, Cracker Crisps Sour Cream & Chives and Cheeselets – which have been temporarily renamed Treeselets due to the festive new shape.
The range will be the headline sponsor for Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day 2020 and each product will be designed with a Christmas jumper.
Jonathon Bull, head of commercial & seasonal brands at Pladis UK&I, said: “By sponsporing Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day, we are not only going to be encouraging shoppers to donate to a great cause, but thanks to stand-out packaging, they’re bound to catch the eyes of shoppers strolling up and down the aisle.”
A social media and PR campaign will support the launch and sponsorship. Jacob’s Christmas Caddies are available in 200-280g formats, with an RRP of £3.49.
Jacob’s Biscuits for Cheese is available in a 300g format, with an RRP of £10 to help meet the demand for seasonal gifts.
The cheese box will include Jacob’s Cheddars and Jacob’s Cream Crackers in a vintage-style tin, which is honour of the brand’s 160-year heritage. The supplier claims the product is perfectly paired with cheese or chutney.
Jacob’s Savoury Favourites is designed for sharing and includes a seasonal of Jacob’s crackers.
With an RRP of £2.19, the sharing box is available in a 200g format, designed with Jacob’s bright orange packaging to ensure stand-out on shelf.
The supplier claims Jacob’s Savoury Favourites taps into the seasonal trend of being together and aims to “help retailers generate their share of seasonal sales”.
Jacob’s The Festive Selection includes seven of the brand’s classic cracks, available in a 450g with an RRP of £4.29.
The Jacob’s brand is currently worth £72m, with sales of the Jacob’s Selection worth £10m. The supplier claims the festive edition will drive excitement for shoppers.
“Nothing says Christmas like a box of crackers and a cheese board, and this year we have several selection boxes from Jacob’s to satisfy key seasonal trends such as indulgence and being together,” Bull said.
Available in a 250g format, Jacob’s Savours Flavour Assortment is a selection of premium savoury crackers to capitalise on snacking sales.
With an RRP of £4.29, the flavour assortment contains Jacob’s Sour Cream & Chive Thins, Cheese Thins, Sweet Chilli Thins and Salt & Cracked Black Pepper Bakes.
The supplier said that Jacob’s Savours Flavour Assortment will help retailers drive impulse purchases during the seasonal period, as 53% of shoppers say they are prompted to buy a product when they see new flavours.
Returning for 2020 is Carr’s Selection in a 200g format, with an RRP of £3.
The snacking selection contains a range of eight different biscuits, including Original Melts and Table Water. The supplier said the product will suit shoppers stocking the cupboards with crackers in the lead-up to Christmas.
Carr’s Selection will also be available in a 500g festive box (RRP £7.50) for shoppers looking to trade up and is a must-stock line for retailers looking to drive high value sales during the seasonal period.
“Our Carr’s brand is worth £10m and is a firm favourite with shoppers,” Bull adds. “The Carr’s Selection is an ideal gift that will appeal to shoppers looking to trade up over the festive season – driving value sales in the process.”
